EDUCATION IN SPAIN
Finding the right school is important everywhere. Whether you have lived in Spain for years, have recently moved here or are considering to that, as parents, you will be concerned with your child's education.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCHOOL:
In southern Spain, making a decision can appear to be a daunting task given the many international schools that have recently emerged. Another consideration is whether to select an international school or Spanish, would you have a preference to follow the the British system or allow the children to attend a Spanish school whilest at primary level and then move into the British system.
MAIN CONSIDERATIONS:
The main advantage for most pupils in an international school would be to mix with other children of different nationalities and background. This can only provide a stimulating, healthy and educational environment.
The Spanish system offers your child with an excellent opportunity to intergrate into the Spanish language and culture. This kind of grounding is invaluable.
Another consideration would also depend upon your financial circumstances. The cost of school fees, registration, materials, meals, transport and any other additional extras.
RESEARCH YOUR OPTIONS:
1) All shcools will welcome you to visit with your child to inspect their facilities but check for official registration and a recent inspection certificate.
2) research the facilities for things as a well stocked library, good IT facilities, sports equipment, any art and craft interests, the curriculum that will be followed and any other additional activities.
3) Talking to some of the pupils would provide an insight into the kind of student life in the school.
4) Research the school's reputaion in general by talking to other parents and local ex-pat. residents with children already in school here.
5) Check the contract that you would be required to sign. Ensure that you read all the small details such as initial deposit to be paid and conditions of payment of the annual school fees.
Remember that you are the customer and are entitled to ask as many questions as you like to satisfy any misgivings.
